Childe Abrams to the Dark Tower Came...

So, I'm at the bookstore, and picked up a few comics while I was there. Among them, of course, the third issue of the Dark Tower comic. While I was checking out, the clerk paused at that one, commented that he'd just read it, and said it was really good. To which, you know, I'd kind of assumed. But it was nice to get a stamp of approval, right? But his commentary wasn't finished.

Guy at Borders: ...but what I'm really looking forward to is the thing with J.J. Abrams.

Me: I'm sorry. What?

(Here, I assume he's talking about the Star Trek movie, that somehow, some evil-borne combination of what I was wearing and what I was buying lead this poor fellow to believe I was a Star Trek fan. At this point, I decide to burn my shirt as soon as I get home and go back to ordering comic books online.)

GAB: The live action thing.

Me: What... live action thing?

GAB: Oh, you haven't heard? Abrams and King have been talking series.

A few minutes later, after I have recovered my jaw from the floor, he goes on to say that they're not sure if it will be an HBO series or a series of theatrical releases, but that the two have kind of become buds, and have been in talks on this for some time. Best news ever.

After the inital shock wore off, I forced myself to be realistic, since "guy at Borders" isn't necessarily the most reliable source. So, I did some research (read: typed in "Dark Tower" at AICN), and yeah. From King's mouth to your eyes. Let's hope it happens.

I need to ask of course, what were you wearing? *eyebrow*

Can I go get in line at a theater now? And I'll be needing to permanently affix a sponge to my chin to soak up the drool...
