Saving the World in a Tiara

So, I was talking to my friend Keith about the upcoming Aeon Flux movie, and I came to the realization that I don't really like Charlize Theron. But, since I never really liked that cartoon either, I'm not particularly upset. However, when it comes to Wonder Woman, we're talking about a very serious matter. Now, 2007 is a long ways away. I doubt we'll hear on the subject for a good six months at least (please, Joss Whedon, do prove me wrong on this. I'll be your best friend...), but a girl can dream. So in that spirit, I give you my Top Five Picks for the role.

  1. Angelina Jolie: It'd be like Tomb Raider, but with better writing!
  2. Jennifer Connelly: She's got the look, and I'd love to see her do something other than making the "I'm very concerned about something!" face all the time. She would kick your ass and you'd like it.
  3. Evangeline Lilly: Do I think she's the Best Actress Ever? No. A great one even? Not yet, but she's young yet. However, she can deliver the hell out of competently written lines, and she's certainly got the bazongas for it.
  4. Mischa Barton: Not the first person I'd think of, but she was mentioned (along with half of the rest of Hollywood between the ages of 18 and 35), so I get to weigh in. If they go younger with the role, I could see her rocking this. I've seen some pictures where girl looks fierce. From a distance, and from her role as Marissa, I feel your hesitation, but she's got the face for it, and she was totally spunky when she was little. I think she could pull it off.
  5. Giselle Bundchen: I dunno, I couldn't actually think of a fifth one (getting to three was hard enough!). This is dependent on her actually being able to act, and I don't know whether or not she can (really, did anyone see Taxi?), but come on! She's actually from the Amazon basin, and she's hot as the day is long! If she can act too, what more could you possibly want?

Honorable Mention

Rachels Who Are Too Short: Rachel Bilson and Rachel McAdams. Girls, with a few inches, you'd totally make my list. We already know Rachel Bilson looks smokin' in the costume too.

Katies Who Are Too Batshit Insane: Katie Holmes. Maybe when you escape from Tom Cruise and his alien brethren you can be Wonder Woman's sister or something.

But why not...

... Keira Knightly?
The look is just off somehow. I'd be kind of excited to see what she could do with it, but for some reason, I just can't see her in it. I love her to bits though... maybe she could be a spunky sidekick?!

... Jennifer Garner?
Same thing, with added taint thrown in for Elektra.

...Kate Beckinsale?
"OMG she was so cool in Underworld and she kicked all that butt in Van Helsing, and..." No. Just... No. I can see her wanting to set out to prove she's commercially viable and all that, and you know, bully for her there. But really? No. She looked completely uncomfortable throughout both of those movies. She is striking fear in no one's heart.

...Charisma Carpenter?
Bitch, please. She was rumored, and I hope that was all it was. She can't act, she's not that hot, and her voice is irritating as hell (yes, even when she's not being Cordie). The only thing worse would be Summer Glau, and I'm not even going to get into that right now.

Okay, A) All the people you named are models of characters you play. Coincidence? I think not!

B) For the most part, I totally agree with you. Which is strange. You know how I hate doing that.

C) You seriously just said "Bitch, please." I think I just fainted.

I'd vote on Angie myself, just cuz she seems the most able to encompass that role to its fullest. But I think she's sadly been tainted by her Lara Crofishness. Not that that's a taint, because damn, would people die to be Lara Croft, right? But I'm not sure that people would kind of turn a serious glance in her direction because "Gosh, she's Lara Croft, she can't be Wonder Woman too!" Though I could be completely wrong about that, and i hope I am. Cuz, in your immortal words, she has the bazongas for it. *stare*
